2005 Annawan Fun Days

Annawan Fun Days - June 3-5

Theme of the weekend - Land of the free, because of the Brave

Little Miss Blaze contestants start off the weekend            1st runner up Madeline Cathelyn, Little Miss Blaze
doing a dance for the crowd                                             Kate Sturtewagen, 2nd runner up Alyssa DePauw

New this year was a flag football tournament on Saturday.  Earlier in the day the men's division played, but the Annawan area youth kept the crowd entertained with all their football skills.

We were thrilled to have our Annawan troops be part of the parade.  Thank you so much for everything that you have done for us and the entire country!

Lou Capes and her husband Don were grand                 The middle school band entertains the crowd
marshals for the parade

We even had our own hillbilly lawnmower!                    Some old fashioned bicycles came to town

And it's not a parade without queens!

Henry County Fair Queen Ashley Maxwell of Galva       Little Miss Henry County Fair Queen Claudia Van
and Kristen Ufheil of Annawan, 1st runner up                 Opdorp of Annawan

Junior Miss Henry County Jackie Driscoll of                  Miss Bureau County Fair Queen Brittany Scott of
Cambridge                                                                    Mineral, a senior at Annawan High School

Megan Foes, Little Miss World Festival 1st runner        Daryn Brants, 2nd runner up Little Miss Flame and
of Mineral, elementary student in Annawan                    and Amy Jacobs Little Miss Flame, both of Atkinson

and no parade is complete without the lights and sirens of the fire trucks.  Here is one of the Annawan-Alba trucks used by the department.

Following the parade a reception was held for our local troops.  They "reluctantly" had their picture taken with some our local queens.  Again - thank you so much to all our troops!
