Annawan is proud of all our troops!

We are pleased to add these photos of Annawan High School graduate, Lt. John DeSplinter at the recent Quad City Air Show at the Davenport Municipal Airport!  His family (Aunt Julie who works here at the village offices) graciously shared these photos with us and we are glad to share them with you.  Tony Vandemore, cousin of John's, took these amazing pictures.

John is the son of Dave and Sherri DeSplinter.  He is a graduate of Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree in finance.  John was commissioned in the Navy in May of 1999, and was designated a naval aviator in August of 2001 and completed F-18 Fleet Replacement Training at the Marine Corps Air Station in California with Marine Striker Fighter Training Squadron 101 in August of 2002.  Lt. DeSplinter participated in two deployments on board the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.  He flew missions during the initial "Shock and Awe" campaign in support of Operation Freedom.  He was also deployed to the Persian Gulf in continuing support of Operation of Iraqi Freedom.  John is currently an instructor and pilot as well as being a member of the East Coast Rhino Demo Team.

The following photos show his talents in flying  F-18 Super Hornets with the Navy's precision East Coast Rhino Demo Team.  They are based out of Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia.

Thank you again to the family for sharing these photos.  We are indeed pleased that you are back in the States Lt. John DeSplinter and wish you many happy flights.
