|
Annawan-Alba Fire Department Annawan's first fire engine was purchased in 1880. Twelve men were hired in 1893 for the fire department. In 1885 the first station was built in Annawan. The Annawan-Alba Fire Protection District was formed in 1945 as a tax supported organization. In 1945 a new fire station was built at the current site on West Front Street. The Annawan-Alba Fire Protection District currently serves 72 square miles and provides Emergency Medical Services, Rescue and Fire Suppression. The district has 25 volunteers and a board of trustees. The fire department has two ambulances, two engines, one tanker, and one rescue truck. The Fire Protection District serves the Village and the surrounding area. The Annawan-Alba Fire Protection District is often called to assist other local communities. When the emergency siren is activated, residents are asked to allow the responding volunteers the right of way. Responding volunteers are often identified by a flashing blue light located on their dashboard as well as four-way blinkers on their personal vehicle. The Annawan-Alba Fire Protection District also offers ambulance service. Anyone wishing to volunteer for the Annawan-Alba Fire Protection District should contact Lynn Neulieb, Fire Chief.
