The Annawan-Alba Township Library serves a population of approximately 1,350 which is derived from two townships. The Library is open 31 hours per week and is staffed by the Head Librarian Carol Stern, an assistant and one other staff member. The book collection is complimented by videos, periodicals, and audio books. The library also has a fax machine, computers with Internet access, and a copy machine.
The library offers large print books and a Talking Book program for those who require special needs services. Home delivery of books is also available for the elderly and those who are ill or handicapped. One of the library's highest priority is the children of the community. Story Hour and the Summer Reading Program are two services that are well received in Annawan. Many generous contributions from citizens, organizations and business help these programs. The library is also aided by the "Friends of the Annawan Library" who do fundraisers, supply volunteers and supplement what the library would not be able to purchase without their help. |
