| May 21, 2007 Special Meeting Mayor Franks called a special meeting of the Village Board to order with Sturtewagen, Gustafson, Curran, Fulton, and VanKerrebroeck present. Under discussion was a possible liquor license violation by the Phoenix Bar and Grill. The mayor will talk to the village attorney before further action is taken. It is hoped that a hearing can be held on May 29, 2007. Curran, seconded by VanKerrebroeck, made a motion to give village support to Terry Lancaster's attempt to get a Safe Routes to School Grant. Motion carried. Curran, seconded by VanKerrebroeck, made a motion to adopt Ordinance #291 (An Ordinance electing participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund). Motion carried. The meeting then went into executive session to discuss 2007-2008 employee salaries. After discussion the following salaries were set: Zoning Commissioner and Zoning Board-no change from 2006-2007. Part-time police-no change from 2006-2007. Tracy Diehl - 25 cents an hour increase. (Curran made the motion, seconded by Gustafson. Motion carried.) Julie DeSplinter - 25 cents an hour increase. (Curran made the motion, seconded by Sturtewagen. Motion carried). Marilyn Verdick - 25 cents an hour increase. (Curran made the motion, seconded by Sturtewagen. Motion carried). Wilburn Barnes - 25 cents an hour increase. (Gustafson made the motion, seconded by Curran. Motion carried.) Board members discussed the salaries of the full time employees. The cost to the village for joining the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund had to be considered because it would be high this year. The matching cost for the employees has to be paid for entirely by the village without any tax money from residents. After much discussion, VanKerrebroeck, seconded by Gustafson, made the following motions: Larry Fronk - salary frozen. Mark Crosby - $300 increase in salary for 2007-2008. Tim Wise - $300 increase in salary for 2007-2008. The IRA accounts for Fronk, Crosby, and Wise will no longer be given. Motion carried. Gustafson told board members a resident complained about the condition of the new sod on Route 6. No action was taken. Board members decided to use village employees and equipment to fix the curbs on N. State Street and N. Main Street. No action has been taken to put village money in the Illinois Funds Account. There being no further business, Gustafson, seconded by Curran, made a motion to adjourn. Julie DeSplinter Village Clerk |
